Tumakuru Road bridge opens after 4 years

Inaugurating the ROB at Jalahalli, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that it will ease congestion on the busy ORR.

Bengaluru: After a delay of over four years, the crucial Road Over Bridge (ROB), connecting Muthyalangar and Goraguntepalya (Tumakuru) Road on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), has been thrown open to public use on Friday, bringing relief to ORR commuters.

Inaugurating the ROB at Jalahalli, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that it will ease congestion on the busy ORR.

The project was taken up on a cost-sharing basis between BDA and the Indian Railways.

The project cost was pegged at Rs 28.35 crore.

The Railways put in Rs 13.23 crore, while the BDA spent Rs 15.12 crore on the construction work, while an additional Rs 11.50 crore was paid by the BDA for land acquisition.

Boy draws PM’s attention
Eight-year-old Abhinav had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the hardships being faced by schoolchildren on the road during the peak hours and had sought his intervention for the speedy completion of work on the project, which was entangled in land acquisition problems.
