Fearing failure, two students end life in Balanagar

The police have book-ed cases against both suicides and have handed over the bodies to the families after the autopsy.

Hyderabad: The fear of scoring less marks and the worry of clearing the examinations, drove two students to end their lives in Balanagar and KPHB on Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Mudasir Rashida Begum, 19 and Priyanka, 18.
Rashida Begum, from Balanagar was studying third year pharmacy at MNR College in the city and had some backlogs from previous years.

Worried of not being able to clear them, she consumed tablets used by her father for controlling blood pressure.

Her family members, who noticed her lying unconscious on the flo-or, rushed her to the hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.

In another incident, Priyanka, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in KPHB, was studying first year engineering at Narayanamma Engineering College.

On Monday, she appeared for an examination, but allegedly was depressed over her poor performance in the test. She hung herself at her home in the wee hours of Tuesday.
