The under-construction apartmentss and already constructed buildings in Bharati Nagar on the National Highway No. 16 in Vijayawada are much sought after by the employees and other businessmen coming from Hyderabad to Vijayawada as part of shifting of the Secretariat.
However, air pollution due to the proximity to the highway is the main cause for concern here in this colony, the locals observed.
Due to the poor maintenance of the drainage system, the storm water is stagnating in certain pockets of the colony. R. Surya Prakash, K. Madhav and others of the colony observed that drainage and storm water problem should be solved as early as possible. They said that as monsoon rains are hitting the city, stagnation of water would create mosquito problem in the area.
The solid waste that is being generated by the food shops and other commercial shops is thrown away in the drains causing drainage problem, observed Mr Prakash.The locals observed that though there are minor problems, the area is peaceful and connected to the National Highway.
