President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Tirupati

TIRUPATI: President Droupadi Murmu flew down to Renigunta airport here on Sunday during her two-day tour of Andhra Pradesh. This was her first tour to the temple city after becoming the President.

Deputy chief ministers K Narayana Swamy and K Satya Narayana, Endowments principal secretary Anil Kumar Singhal and district officials led by collector Venkata Ramana Reddy and SP Parameswara Reddy received the President on behalf of the state government.

Later, the presidential entourage reached by road for darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy.

TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy and executive officer AV Dharma Reddy and other TTD officials extended a warm welcome to the President on her arrival at the Sri Padmavathi Rest house in Tirumala.

After an overnight stay at the rest house, the President will have darshan of Lord Bhu Varaha Swamy at 9.30am on Monday and Lord Venkateswara at 9.40am. She would later offer prayers to Gau Mata (cows) at Saptha Gau Mandiram in Alipiri downhill at 11.35am.

The President will later reach Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati at 11.55am and watch the stalls arranged on women empowerment. She will participate in an interaction with women achievers of various fields, students and faculty members at the varsity’s Indira Priyadarshini auditorium.

Hockey player Etimarpu Rajani, Women Barber founder in TTD K Radha Devi, Kuchipudi dancer MVSN Durga and entrepreneur Dr A Sridevi would be among those who would interact with the president.

After the interaction, President Murmu will have a darshan of Goddess Padmavathi Devi Ammavaru at Tiruchanoor. After winding up her pilgrimage, she would return to Renigunta airport at 1.40pm and leave for Delhi.

Meanwhile, as part of the security arrangements for the two-day visit of the President, 1,400 police personnel have been deployed in Tirupati and Tirumala. Traffic diversions are in place along the route in which the President travels in Tirupati and Tirumala. Security has been beefed up at Padmavathi Rest House in Tirumala and SPMVV university campus in Tirupati.
