Dr G Parameshwar's one family, one seat' plan to foil CM Siddaramaiah?

This could place Siddu in a fix as he wants C'deshwari, Varuna tickets for himself & son Yathindra.

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah concurred with KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar’s ‘one family, one ticket’ plan for next year’s elections to the Legislative Assembly, albeit with a rider: Winnability will be the deciding factor for all ticket aspirants.

He told the media here on Monday: “I support the view of Dr Parameshwar though it is his personal opinion, but our central leaders will take the final call as winnable candidates are most vital for our party.”

Sources in the party said Dr Parameshwar’s ‘one family, one ticket’ plan was yet another instance of sparring between the state party president and the Chief Minister in the wake of reports that the latter intends to seek a ticket for his son Dr Yatindra. Mr Siddaramaiah plans to contest from Chamundeshwari, leaving his home turf, Varuna, to his son in 2018. In recent days Dr Yatindra has been supervising development works in Varuna, sparking a row over how he could review projects when he held no position in the constituency.

Sources also indicated Dr Parameshwar was also taking a potshots at Mr Siddaramaiah’s trusted lieutenant and public works minister Dr H C Mahadevappa who plans to back his son Sunil Bose’s candidature for a party ticket.

The Chief Minister said party leaders would meet in first week of March to discuss about selection of candidates.

“Our Mane Manege Congress programme has received good response from people. At present, our government is focusing on reaching benefits of government sponsored schemes to people, so I have decided to visit taluks,” Mr. Siddaramaiah added.

In the wake of tension in parts of his home district, Mysuru, Mr Siddaramaiah said he would not allow the BJP to fan communal disharmony, more so when Assembly polls are round the corner.

With regard to clashes in Hunsur on Sunday, the Chief Minister said his government was not opposed to Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, but members of BJP Yuva Morcha deliberately violated a route map approved by the district police, resulting in tension in the town. “Are BJP leader protesting after breaking the law? It is the fault of Mysuru- Kodagu MP, Prathap Simha, who took law into his hands and rammed his car into the police barricade. If law makers do not respect the law, how can we expect the same from the public?” he queried.
He charged BJP leader with organizing religious events merely to gain political mileage.
