Ajit Doval and Yang Jiechi meet in Hyderabad, discuss bilateral ties

Sources said officials discussed Sino-Indian relations in the first hour, followed by other issues.

Hyderabad: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi met here to discuss measures to improve bilateral ties strained by differences over a host of issues, including Beijing blocking India’s NSG bid and a UN ban on JeM chief Masood Azhar.

The day-long meeting was held at the Durbar Hall at Taj Falaknuma. About 15 officials from the ministry of the external affairs and another 15 from the Chinese State Council took part in the meeting.

There was no official word on the meeting. Sources said officials discussed Sino-Indian relations in the first hour, followed by other issues. After lunch with Indian and Chinese dishes including the Hyderabadi biryani at the 101-seater dining hall, the meeting continued in two phases.

Later, Mr Doval visited the National Security Guard unit at Ibrahimpatnam. Earlier in the morning, top police officials including DGP Anurag Sharma and others called on Mr Doval.
