Hyderabad: A doctor from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh died in a car crash on the Outer Ring Road late on Wednesday night.
Dr Penumoodi Basawa Hareesh, 26, from Gandhinagar in Tenali, was going to meet his friend at Gachibowli to discuss training to pursue his Masters in surgery. Shamirpet inspector B. Naveen Reddy said that Dr Hareesh left home in a car and reached Ibrahimpatnam at about 11 pm. He took the ORR towards Gachibowli via Shamirpet.
His car rammed into a heavy vehicle and then crashed into a road divider. Dr Hareesh sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. Police registered a case of accidental death and handed over the body to his family members at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary after autopsy, the inspector said.
Responding to a query, the inspector said, “We are not sure if the driver was drunk. The post-mortem report has to come from the hospital. Nobody else was injured in the incident. We are trying to trace the other vehicle which was hit by the doctor’s car to find more information on how the accident happened.”
