CPI blames state for violence by Maoists

CPI leader says TD officials involved in illegal activities.

Eluru: CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna criticised the state government for its failure to maintain law and order across the state.

Referring to the recent killing of Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA Siveri Soma by Maoists at Livitiputtu village of Dumbriguda mandal in Araku recently, the CPI senior leader held Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu responsible for the attack and killing.

He alleged that the legislators belonging to the Telugu Desam had been involved in a spree of looting of wealth in the state while the Chief Minister remained a mute spectator and did not initiate any action against them for plundering public property.

With regard to TD MLA from Denduluru, Chinthamaneni Prabhakar, the CPI senior leader blamed Chief Minister Naidu for failing to control him even though he was involved in a series of cases of assault and abuse of innocent people and Dalits. Mr Ramakrishna wondered why no action was initiated despite the fact that the TD legislator was involved in several cases booked in parts of West Godavari. He demanded the arrest of TD legislator and threatened to intensify the stir if the state government failed to issue orders accordingly.

Earlier, a large number of supporters of the Leftist parties took out a rally and staged a protest at the collectorate expressing their opposition to the failure of the government to initiate action against the TD legislator Prabhakar for his involvement in assault and abuse of a Dalit worker. He said that even after a complaint was lodged against the TD legislator at Three Town police station, the police did not register a case for days. He demanded their arrest in the case and provide justice to the affected.
