Hyderabad: E-point books for cops soon

With the city police embracing technology, notebooks are now being replaced by e-point books.

Hyderabad: Manual point books used to record the visits of beat constables are now being replaced by e-point books.

The term ‘point book means’, a notebook or register kept at a designated place for recording the visit of a beat constable or any other official on patrol. During the visit the policeman signs in the book as proof of his visit. Generally, the point books are kept at places of worship, banks and residents welfare association offices.

With the city police embracing technology, notebooks are now being replaced by e-point books. “Beat constables go to the designated point and log into the tablet PC provided. They then record their visit in the e-point book option available. The time of the visit will be recorded and any senior can monitor the patrol party sitting in his office,” said DCP (south) V. Satyanarayana. The point book can be accessed by all police officials right from the station house officer to the police commissioner.
