Nellore: Tension prevails between fishermen of AP and Tamil Nadu after 12 fishermen belonging to AP were abducted by TN fishermen when they ventured into the TN side of Pulicat lake for fishing on Wednesday.
The AP government is being blamed for the breaking out of tensions among fishermen of the two states at regular intervals as it has failed to address a long-pending demand to make Pulicat lake a free zone for fishing. The lake dries up in the AP side during the summer due to lack of water unlike in the Tamil Nadu side of the lake. AP fishermen venture into the Tamil Nadu side and get into trouble because of zonal restrictions.
The AP fishermen are roughed up and abducted once they trespass into TN waters.
