Telangan's 60 per cent medicare paid by Centre, says Bandaru Dattatreya

Hyderabad: Centre is providing over Rs 600 crore to the TS government under various heads for medicare and related services, says Union labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya.

“Centre is extending 60 per cent aid to TS out of the Rs 1,000 crore earmarked for medical and health. While 60 per cent is borne by Centre 40 per cent is borne by the state,” he said.

The Central government’s ESIC Medical College, Sanathnagar and state government’s NIMS signed an MoU for utilisation of infrastructure of ESIC Medical College and seeking NIMS super-specialty experts’ support in the presence of Mr Dattatreya and TS health minister Laxma Reddy here on Monday.

NIMS director Dr Manohar and ESIC Medical College dean Dr M. Srinivas signed the MOU. Stating that the MoU was first of its kind in the country, Mr Dattatreya said super-specialty doctors, after completion of DM / MCH course, can do one year mandatory service in ESIC super-specialty hospital, Sanathnagar.

He said ESIC medical college would offer 60 per cent seats to TS and 40 per cent seats to ESIC insured workers, adding that MCI gave permission for ESIC medical college following fulfilment of all deficiencies in a record 100 days.

Mr Dattareya revealed that the Centre gave Rs 278 crore the state towards reproductive child health, Rs 30 crore towards immunisation, Rs 170 crore towards National Urban Health Mission, Rs 431 crore diabetes, elderly care, cancer etc, Rs 4 crore towards malaria and dengue control, and Rs 7 crore each for TB and leprosy control.

Under Prime Minister’s Swasth Suraksha Yojana, the Centre was offering Rs 90 crore of the Rs 150 crore to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Adilabad, Rs 150 crore to the Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal and Rs 150 crore to state cancer centre, totalling over Rs 1,000 crore, he said.
