ED summons Captain Amarinder Singh's son for FEMA violation

Raninder has reportedly been asked to appear before ED's Jalandhar office on June 16.

Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday issued summons to Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh's son Raninder Singh for alleged violation of Foreign Exchange Management Act ( FEMA), a development that can have political ramifications ahead of assembly polls next year.

Raninder has reportedly been asked to appear before ED's Jalandhar office on June 16.

In March, Ludhiana's Chief judicial magistrate Ranjeev Kumar had issued a notice to Raninder for lying to the Income Tax department about his foreign bank accounts.

Raninder has drawn the attention of investigating agencies after his alleged links with a UK-based trust came to light.

ED has initiated action following a complaint by the Income Tax department. The complaint claims that Raninder lied under oath to the IT department about trusts allegedly owned by him in British Virgin Islands.
