Digvijay Singh plans a stronger Congress

He has started consultations on how to strengthen the party in the state.

Hyderabad: AICC general-secretary and in-charge of TS Congress affairs Digvijay Singh on Monday started consultations on how to strengthen the party in the state. The meeting between Mr Singh and the party leaders also delved on taking up mass contact programmes. Mr Singh held talks with Leaders of the Opposition in Assembly and Council K. Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali respectively, and TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Speaking to DC from Delhi, Mr Singh said that the Congress needed to take up mass contact programmes besides strengthening the party organisation in the state. “I started consultations with all the senior leaders of TS. We will chalk out various programmes,” he said. During Monday’s consultations, it was decided to revamp the party’s coordination panel as well as constituting the TPCC state executive in the next few days.

Mr Singh is learnt to have sought a few names for the coordination panel and the state executive. He also wanted to know the reason behind the delay in nominating leaders to various mandal, district committees and in-charges of Assembly constituencies despite the state leadership having been told to complete the exercise. Mr Singh reportedly told the state seniors that the Congress, being the main Opposition party, cannot afford to allow party posts go unfilled. He suggested to the leaders to evolve various mass contact programmes to rejuvenate the party.
