YSRC to unveil stupa on Praja Sankalpa Yatra

The construction is designed to highlight the promises given by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy to the public and the spirit of padayatra.

VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress is readying to commemorate the historic padayatra launched by its chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The party has been taking necessary action to complete a Stupa that describes the importance of Praja Sankalpa Yatra.

The construction is designed to highlight the promises given by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy to the public and the spirit of padayatra. The construction work of the stupa is going on a rapid speed as the culmination of padayatra is scheduled on January 9.

The stupa is unique in its own way, if one gets a look. It is erected on the left side of Srikakulam and Ichapuram National Highway.

The stupa is just two kilometres away from Ichapuram town and will be unveiled by YSRC president Jagan Mohan Reddy on the day of the yatra’s culmination.

Late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s Prajaprasthanam and his daughter Y.S. Sharmila’s Maro Prajaprasthanam also culminated in Ichapuram. As a symbol of Prajaprasthanam and Maro Prajaprasthanam, two stupas were already erected. Now, Praja Sankalpa Yatra Stupa is going to join the bandwagon. Mr Jagan also wanted to follow his father’s footsteps by culminating his historic walkathon in Ichapuram.

The stupa is three-storeyed. From the foundation, the height of the stupa is about 88 feet and is built of four pillars. From the foundation to the Stupa’s base, 13 stairs were built to commemorate 13 districts. The first floor of the stupa exhibits the photos of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Praja Sankalpa Yatra, the second floor exhibits late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s photos and the third floor is designed in a circular shape.

The party flag will fly from around a height of 15 feet from the third floor’s dome. YSRC programme coordinator Talasila Raghuram said that plans are on track to cover the compound wall, stressing the importance of Praja Sankalpa Yatra. Galaxy granite is used in the construction of the stupa. The padayatra’s photos on granite panels were specially printed in Hyderabad.
