Vice-chancellor search committees formed for four universities

Out of four, three of them are completing their tenure in February and one is completing in March.

Chennai: The higher education department of Tamil Nadu has formed the vice-chancellor search committees for four universities including Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.

Out of four, three of them are completing their tenure in February and one is completing in March. The search committees have formed well in advance to ensure the smooth transition of power.

M.S. University VC K.Baskar completes his tenure on February 15. The vice-chancellor search committee consists of retired IAS officer S.P. Elangovan and Anna University’s former Vice-Chancellor M.Anandakrishnan and former UGC chairman Ved Prakash.

Professor Ved Prakash elected as syndicate nominee and Professor Anandakrishnan elected as Senate nominee. Mr.Elangovan has been appointed as government’s nominee and will also be the convener of the committee.

Thiruvalluvar University Vice-Chancellor K.Murugan also completes his tenure on February.

The committee is headed by NAAC director S.C. Sharma has been appointed as the chancellor’s nominee and he will be a convener of the committee. Former IAS officer Viswanath A.Shegaonkar and NITTTR director Sudhindra Nath Panda will be other members of the committee.

Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Vice-Chancellor S.Thangasamy also completes his three-year tenure in February. Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor M.Jagadesh Kumar has been appointed as the Chancellor’s nominee and he would be the convenor of the committee. Former IAS officer Ramesh Kumar Khanna and Periyar University former

Vice-Chancellor K.Balakrishnan will be other two members.

Tamil Nadu Open University Vice-Chancellor M.Baskaran completing his tenure in March. Railways Claims Tribunal chairman Justice K.Kannan has been appointed as the convener of the committee, K.Skandan, former IAS officer and Srikant Mohapatra, V-C of Odisha State Open University are other two members.
