Kollam: Attacks on houses in Pathanamthitta

A few houses that belong to Sabarimala Karma Samithi workers were also attacked.

Kollam: Several houses and vehicles of CPM workers were vandalised in Pathanamthitta as part of violence that prolonged in various parts of the district after the hartal day. In Pandalam, houses of the CPM branch and area committee members were targeted by miscreants.

In Adoor, house of CPM district secretariat member T.D. Baiju was attacked by a gang of some 30 members who reached on two-wheelers. The window panes were damaged and the doors were broken using axe. He alleged RSS workers were behind the attack.

A few houses that belong to Sabarimala Karma Samithi workers were also attacked.

Meanwhile, the body of Chandran Unnithan, who died allegedly in stone pelting during Sabarimala Karma Samithi protest, was cremated at his house premises in Kurambala. The body was not kept for the public considering the tense situation prevalent in Pandalam and was taken to his house in a funeral procession.

Chandran Unnithan, 55, of Kuttiyil at Kurambala was injured while taking part in a protest march organised by Sabarimala Karma Samithi in Pandalam on Wednesday evening. He was taken to a private medical college in Thiruvalla where he succumbed to grave head injuries hours later.

An autopsy at the Kottayam MCH had revealed internal bleeding in the head turned fatal for Chandran Unnithan. He had suffered two injuries on the front and middle portion of his head in the violence.
