CHENNAI: Care Institute of Behavioural Sciences (CBS), Chennai, joining hands with Annamalai University, is offering one year PG diploma course in learning disability for teachers and parents.
“Learning disability is one of the major reasons for school dropouts and there is lack of awareness among teachers and parents about the disorder. There is no training for early identification of learning disability which can be cured if it is identified below the age of 12,” said Dr Viruthagirinathan, clinical neuro psychologist and director of Care Institute of Behavioural Sciences.
Apart from parents and teachers all graduates are eligible to apply.
Similarly, CBS will also offer PG diploma in counselling for health professionals, social science graduates and teachers.
“There is a need for counsellors in educational institutions and other places due to the increase in number of suicides. ,” Dr Viruthagirinathan said. The courses will start from February 2018.
