Capt Susheel Menon assumes as commanding officer of INS Vikramaditya

Menon is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy

Karwar: Capt Susheel Menon took charge as the seventh commanding officer of Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya on Saturday.

He assumed charge onboard INS Vikramaditya at Karwar Naval base.

Menon is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy. A Surface Warfare Officer, he was adjudged the Best All Round Officer of his batch at Gunnery School – Dronacharya.

He joined the Navy at INS Kakinada, where he also served in the large battle tank 'INS Gharial', a missile launching vessel 'INS Talwar'.

The officer also studied Indonesian Naval Command and Staff Course training at the American Military College.

His command tenures include Commanding Officer of TRV-71, Executive Officer of Guided Missile Destroyer INS Mumbai, Commanding Officer of Guided Missile Corvette INS Kirpan, and Commanding Officer of INS Kolkata.

He was the first Commodore (Operations) at Headquarters Eastern Naval Command.

Before taking over Command of INS Vikramaditya, the officer was posted as Cmde (Strategy Concepts and Transformation) at Naval Headquarters. He was conferred the Vishisht Seva Medal on Jan 26, 2019.
