Hosakerehalli Lake to be rejuvenated by April: Mayor Gangambike

Residents also complained that sewage from other wards end up in the lake.

Bengaluru: When Mayor Gangambike went to inspect Hosakerehalli Lake, the local residents told her that for the past three year lake development work was moving at a snail’s pace.

The residents informed the Mayor that it becomes very difficult during heavy rains, as the storm water drain is not managed properly and leads to flooding. They also complained that sewage from other wards end up in the lake.

They also said that contractors who were in-charge of clearing the garbage were not doing their work effectively.

Gangambike assured the residents that the lake will be rejuvenated completely by April. She told officials to immediately take measures to stop discharge of effluents into the lake.

As part of the lake revival plan, BDA will desilt the water body, stop sewage inflow, create two islands and a walking track. “We shall complete all the works by April 2019,” a BDA official said.
