1.63 lakh files pending in offices, collectorates in Andhra Pradesh

Krishna district has highest backlog, with 22,259 files pending.

Hyderabad: Despite Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s directions, thousands of files are pending at collectorates and other district level offices. By April-end, about 75,000 files are pending in the collectorates of 13 districts, while the total number of pending files in other offices too is put at 1.63 lakh.

At the recent collectors’ conference, the CM was shocked to hear about the massive pendency of files at collectorates and district offices. He directed district officials to dispose of the files quickly in the interest of the people. The highest pendency in collectorate was in Kurnool district, with 8,743 files.

Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy who is looking after the revenue department represents Kurnool district. Vizianagaram district collectorate recorded the lowest number of pendency, with 3,183 files. In pendency relating to collectorates and district offices together, Krishna district recorded the highest at 22,259 files, followed by CM’s own district Chittoor with 21,127 files.

On an average, more than 30,000 new files are accumulating every week in all the district offices including collectorates. Most of the files are of revenue department relating to land disputes etc. In the districts, offices of tahsildars, MROs, RDOs and even collectorates are delaying clearance of files.
