TTD grants Rs 10 crore to institute for disabled

The TTD will make elaborate arrangements for the ensuing Krishna Pushkarams in Vijayawada.

TIRUPATI: The Trust Board of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) has decided to allot Rs 10 crore as seed capital for Sri Venkateswara Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled run by Dwaraka Tirumala Devastanam. As part of Dharma Pracharam the board has decided to enhance the amount to Rs 8 lakh from Rs 2 lakh towards the construction of temples in Agency areas. The TTD Trust Board under the chairmanship of Dr Ch. Krishnamurthy met in Tirumala on Tuesday.

After conclusion of the meeting Dr Krishnamurthy along with executive officer D. Sambasiva Rao revealed the resolutions adopted by the board to press persons. The TTD will make elaborate arrangements for the ensuing Krishna Pushkarams in Vijayawada. The replica temple of Lord Venkateswara constructed by the TTD in PWD grounds in Vijayawada will open for devotees on August 7.

Over one lakh pilgrims are expected to visit the replica temple every day during pushkarams and TTD will provide annaprasadam and darshan to the devotees, the chairman said. The board has decided to allot 2.93 acres to the railways ministry towards the development of Tirupati West station for the benefit of pilgrims on nominal payment basis. The board has asked the railways to complete the development works within a year.

He said following representations from the postgraduate students of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati the board has decided to pay the pending stipends to them and later reimburse it from the government. TTD earned Rs 15.34 crore during the e-auction of human hair in May and June, he said. Disclosing his deliberations with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada on Monday, Mr Krishnamurthy said the CM is very keen on the development of temple city of Tirupati.

He suggested that Tirupati be developed as a medical hub with modern medicare facilities in TTD-run hospitals. “We will provide maximum services to the common people as the TTD is run by them, who come from across the country in lakhs to have darshan of Lord,” he said. Earlier during the board meeting the chairman along with EO released the Promo CD on Sri Krishna Pushkarams.

Speaking on this occasion, the chairman complimented TTD EO and Tirumala JEO K.S. Sreenivasa Raju for making extraordinary arrangements for the ensuing Krishna Pushkarams in PWD grounds at Vijayawada. “The CM has appreciated the arrangements of TTD during the Godavari Maha Pushkaram last year. And this year we are making much better arrangements to make the river fete a huge success,” he said. Adding further he said, the Krishna Pushkaram ‘Shobha Yatra’ will commence from Tirumala on August 3 and will reach on August 6. Our temple will open on August 7 and Krishna Harathi will be performed every day,” the chairman maintained.
