Council nominee irks Karnataka minister Srinivas Prasad

Srinivas Prasad countered statements of opposition parties that the state government had failed to handle the drought situation properly.

Mysuru: Revenue Minister and Mysuru district in-charge minister, Mr V Srinivasprasad said that he was unhappy over the selection of the candidate for elections to the state Legislative Council from South Graduates Constituency.

However he would strive hard for the victory of the official candidate of the party.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, the minister said, “Senior leaders, local MPs, MLAs of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Mandya, and aspirants should have been taken into confidence while finalising the candidate.

Ravindra has been selected as the Congress candidate for the elections. No matter how he has been selected, each member of the party will sincerely strive for his victory,” he said.

On a question on change of KPCC president, he said, “Yes, the KPCC chief will be changed shortly. I was also interested in the post, but now it is too late,” he said. He declined to answer a question on change of Chief Minister. “Congress leaders will decide on electing Rahul Gandhi as AICC president,” Mr Srinivasprasad said in reply to a question.

He also countered the statements of opposition parties that the state government had failed to handle the drought situation properly. “The Central government did not release drought relief funds on time. We will be coming up with a White Paper on drought relief efforts taken up by the state government shortly,” he said.
