Hyderabad sees nights as the new peak hour'

This happens more during the weekends or before holidays.

Hyderabad: A new ‘peak hour’ appears to be developing at night as far as the traffic is concerned. Vehicles have to slow down due to three factors: Increased traffic at night, more buses and heavy vehicles on the road and roads narrowed down by Metro Rail work.

Private buses mostly start at about 10 pm from Gachibowli or Kukatpally junction and pass through these major bottlenecks. This happens more during the weekends or before holidays. DCP, traffic, A.V. Ranganath buses are only allowed to move in the city after 10 pm but it’s affecting traffic right from 9.30 pm.

Mr S. Adishankar, secretary, Roadcraft, said, “Traffic moves in the city till 2 am and starts at about 7 am. The Metro Rail work starts when the city sleeps. But how can they keep working when there is traffic almost throughout the night?”
