BJP is trying to incite communal clashes: CPM

G. Ramakrishnan on Thursday accused the BJP of politicising the murder of its activist Marimuthu in Tiruppur.

CHENNAI: CPM state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Thursday accused the BJP of politicising the murder of its activist Marimuthu in Tiruppur and concealing that his murder was due to personal rivalry. The BJP deputy president of Tiruppur was found hanging on January 27, but the BJP immediately declared that it was a murder and tried to paint a picture that the murderers were opposed to the BJP politically and religiously, the CPM leader said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s portrait garlanded with chappals and the national flag was found near the dead body. A tense situation prevailed in Tiruppur and shops were closed, but media reports later show that the murder was a result of personal enmity related to money transaction and an illicit affair, Ramakrishnan noted. Similar incidents occurred in Coimbatore where Hindu Munnani activist Sasikumar was killed. Immediately, allegations were made against the Muslim community whose shops were ransacked, damaged and houses attacked. But, murderer was not identified till now.

In Hosur, when a VHP worker was killed, similar propaganda was unleashed and later it was found that the killing was result of business rivalry. He alleged that the Sangh Parivar outfits are trying to utilise any opportunity to incite religious and political clashes with a view to develop their organisations. He requested the outfits to reject such an approach and maintain communal harmony in the state.
