Hyderabad: Traffic woes in Hitec City is going to ease as the underpass at Ayyappa Society Junction will be inaugurated by Municipal Administration and Urban Development minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday.
Beautification of the underpass, which commenced in December, has been completed and the service road has been laid. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took up the project in August 2016 under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at a cost of Rs 44.30 crore.
Two 132KV high-tension lines were shifted for this. Even though the underpass is completed ahead of the schedule, shifting of the lines caused a delay of more than three months. Furthermore, to lay the underground cables, the adjacent road was dug up which was laid just ahead of the inauguration.
Areas in Kondapur, Ayyappa Society and Madhapur will benefit from this. The two lane unidirectional underpass from Kondapur to Ayyappa Society is 450 metre long and 10 metre wide. This underpass the first to be inaugurated under the SRDP.
