Bengaluru to have bicycle sharing system soon

Chief Minister had announced public bicycle system in previous budget. It was first introduced in Mysuru.

Bengaluru: Bengaluru will soon get Public Bicycle Sharing System (PBS) at an estimated project cost of Rs 80.18 crore.

After a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra told reporters that the state cabinet has given approval to allot Bengaluru Permit System to provide public bicycle system at important locations in the city.

At the first stage the government will provide 4,000 bicycles and 350 docking points at important locations of the city. It will be introduced at M.G. Road, Vidhana Soudha, Koramangala, HSR Layout, HBR Layout, Banasawadi, Indiranagar, Jayanagar, Basavanagudi and other places. Under this project, cycle track, parking hub and procurement of cycle will be included.
