Hyderabad High Court: No order to stay list revision

Counsel for the petitioner said the EC had failed to delete the names despite a court order.

Hyderabad: Stressing on the importance of publishing the final voters list without any mistake, the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday made it clear that it had not passed any orders to stay the revision of the list.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice S.V. Bhatt was dealing with a petition by Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy seeking to direct the EC to delete bogus and duplicate names from the list.

Counsel for the petitioner said the EC had failed to delete the names despite a court order.

The EC counsel submitted that due to filing of a number of petitions on the voters list, the poll panel was facing hardships in carrying out its work. Reacting to the submission, the bench said that filing of the affidavits would not be a obstruction to the EC to complete its work.

It said the court had not granted any adverse order with regard to revision of the voters list. Making it clear that it will not conclude the hearing of the plea, the bench posted the case to Nov 8.
