Deputy CM polices darshans at Indrakeeladri

VIJAYAWADA: Goddess Kanaka Durga Devi appeared in Sri Mahalakshmi Devi’s attire on the sixth day of Dasara Sarannavaratri festival at the Indrakeeladri Shrine in Vijayawada on Saturday.

Sri Mahalakshmi Devi is one of the Trisakthis known for her Dhairya. She played a vital role in Mahishasura Mardhanam.

Interestingly, Deputy Chief Minister Kottu Sataynarayana, who holds the endowments portfolio, stationed himself at Rajagopuram to check unauthorised darshans and violation of norms at the Durga temple.

More than 50,000 devotees visited the Durga temple and performed pujas on Saturday. According to temple authorities, about four lakh devotees have so far had the darshan of Durga Devi in the past six days. The rush is expected to peak to 2.5 lakh on the seventh day, the Moola Nakhstram day on Sunday.

Among those who had a darshan on the day were water resources minister Ambati Rambabu, housing minister Jogi Ramesh, Penamaluru MLA Kolusu Pardha Saradhi and chief secretary Sameer Sharma.
