Pondicherry MLA objects to Kiran Bedi's Swacch Bharat work

Mr Balan alleged that Ms Bedi is doing things to create a bad image of the legislators.

Puducherry: A day after Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi shot off a letter to the legislators of the Union Territory reminding them that the Governor has got right to travel anywhere in her limits, Congress legislator MNR Balan engaged in a public argument with Ms Bedi objecting her doing the work in his constituency during Swacch Bharat rally.

The incident happened when Ms Bedi along with students and NCC cadres started to clean a playground in teacher's colony at Pitchaiveeranpet in Oulgret constituency as part of 'shramadhan' movement.

Hearing the news, local MLA MNR Balan reached the place and shouted at the Lt Governor asking her on whose permission she was there. He was seen engaged in heated exchange with the Lt Governor and objected her from doing the work.

The legislator listed out various developmental activities he has done in the constituency and asked the Governor not to cross her limits. She left without completing the work.

Later, Mr Balan told mediapersons that he had already completed all works to restore the playground and the Lt Governor interfered in the matter when works are about to start.

Mr Balan alleged that Ms Bedi is doing things to create a bad image of the legislators.

“We are doing all the work and the Lt Governor is acting as if we have done nothing. She is taking credits for all the work,” he said. Ms Bedi said she will submit a report on what had happened to the central government with evidence.
Ms Bedi also said she will continue the Swaach Bharat rally.
