Kerala High Court asks DGP to appear in micro finance scam

The court asked the vigilance to specify the period in which the amount allocated to microfinance had been diverted to other projects.

KOCHI: The High Court came down heavily on the government counsel and the investigation officials of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in the microfinance fraud case connected with the SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan. Taking strong disapproval of the attitude of the vigilance pleader and functioning of the investigation team the court on Thursday said the director general of prosecutions (DGP) should appear in the case.

The court was irked when the counsel for the vigilance was unable to provide clear answers or explanation to the questions raised by the court. The court asked the vigilance to specify the period in which the amount allocated to microfinance had been diverted to other projects. However, the counsel for the vigilance and the investigation official were unable to provide an answer. The court then asked the DGP to appear after studying the case on Monday. The court has also collected the case diary and other details of the investigation.
