Hyderabad: Chill, the cold wave could end sooner. The India Meteorological Department has called off the warning for Friday, January 4, because of the possibility of south-eastern winds, which are warmer. Now the cold wave warning is valid till January 3.
Minimum temperatures in the city, meanwhile, continued to dip, recording an eight-year-low of 9.3°C on Tuesday morning, as against 9.5 on Monday.
The maximum temperature was consistent at 27°C. Elsewhere, Adilabad was shivering at 5°C, with severe cold wave conditions.
“Northeastern winds, which are cold in nature, still prevail over the state,” said Skymet weather’s Mr Mahesh Palawat. “But there is possibility of arrival of South Eastern winds, which are comparatively warmer, in a couple of days. Those will bring back normal minimum temperatures. Also, there won’t be any significant change in maximum temperatures. There would at most be an increase of 2-3°C.”
IMD sources said cold wave conditions were likely to prevail at a few places in the districts of Adilabad, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Nirmal, Komaram Bheem, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Vikarabad, Medak, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Siddipet, Rajanna Sircilla and Warangal.
