Jammu and Kashmir students miss' militants in Kerala

They were struck by the welcoming attitude of the people here and the beauty of the city.

Kozhikode: A group of college students from Kashmir, who came on a visit to Kozhikode, was surprised by the absence of militants in Kerala.

“What we see in Kashmir are militants all around, but we hardly saw anyone here,” said the astonished students. Nearly 65 students from Srinagar, Baramulla and Badgam districts in Jammu and Kashmir came here on Friday as part of the Kashmiri youth exchange programme and interacted with collector Seeram Sambashiva Rao.

They were struck by the welcoming attitude of the people here and the beauty of the city.

The collector told them that Kerala is a model state in education, health service and cleanliness and urged them to make use of the facilities. The students, the fourth among the 10 batches in the youth exchange programme, plan to conduct a detailed study about Kerala and its excellence in various sectors, especially education.

Later, they also visited Providence College, IIM-K and Karanthur club. On Saturday they will visit more places, including planetarium, Akash- avani, Pazhassiraja museum, botanical garden, CVN Kalari, Beypore and Kappad.
