Secunderabad Cantonment Board seals two more food outlets

SCB has sealed Hotel Masthana and Balaji Mithai Bhandar Sweets House.

Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board has sealed Hotel Masthana and Balaji Mithai Bhandar Sweets House, both located in Sikh Village. So far, the SCB health and sanitation wing has sealed eight foot outlets — four hotels and four sweets outlets. They were all sealed due to poor hygiene in the kitchen, store area, dining room etc. Some of them were operating illegally without a trade licence from the board.

SCB food inspector M. Devender said, “The SCB act states that shop workers should not be using the kitchen for purposes other than preparation of food. Under no circumstance should there be any insect, pest, rat or bandicoot there. Food material should be kept on separate racks. The kitchen should have proper flooring, ceiling, ventilation and exhaust arrangement. But, a majority of the outlets inspected have violated these provisions.”
