NSS cadre to restore Rs 5-crore assets at Kozhikode Medical college

Selected 170 engineering, polytechnic college students are participating in the camp from across the state.

Kozhikode: After completing camps at several government hospitals, the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers have now turned to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (KMCH) for a 10-day mega camp.

Rs 5-crore worth assets are expected to be brought back to life at the camp under their ‘Punarjani’ programme of the technical education department. Selected 170 engineering, polytechnic college students are participating in the camp from across the state.

“We had initially aimed to create Rs 5 crore worth durable assets in KMCH at the casualty wing, OP, Institute of Maternal and Child Health (IMCH), super speciality block, blood bank, chest hospital and radiotherapy and neurosurgery units. But a lot more work is needed to be done here,” says Abdul Jabbar Ahmad, programme coordinator of the NSS' technical cell.

The NSS is thinking of another camp in December to complete all repairing works.
