Water level touches 883ft at Srisaialm

The Srisalam reservoir authorities said the dam had recorded a 3,023.43 tmc ft storage at around 7pm.

Anantapur: Srisailam reservoir levels reached their peak following continuous inflows from the upstream parts for over ten days.

However, the flow reduced since Thursday and the reservoir level touched 883ft as against 885ft on Friday night. Though the reservoir authorities hoped an overflow by Friday due to incessant rainfall in Karnataka and Maharashtra catchment areas, and heavy outflows of even two lakh cusecs from Jurala reservoir, poor inflows were reported for the past two days.

On Friday, only 3,200 cusecs of inflows was received from Jurala project while 27,596 cusecs of outflow was recorded from Srisailam reservoir. The Srisalam reservoir authorities said the dam had recorded a 3,023.43 tmc ft storage at around 7pm.

“We are not sure of an overflow from the reservoir after inflows almost reduced,” sources said.

Meanwhile, water is released constantly towards Pothirddypadu and Handri Neeva Sujala Shravanthi from Srisailam backwaters.
