Hindu Munnani murder: NIA's bid to bring home suspect from abroad

The sleuths recovered 21 materials including sim-cards, hard disk, DVDs and confidential documents from the house in the raids.

Coimbatore: Sleuths of the elite National Investigation Agency (NIA), based in Kochi, suspect that a 30-year-old man working abroad to be among the suspects in connection with the murder of Hindu Munnani (HM) functionary Sasi Kumar nearly two years ago and have planned to bring him back to India for questioning.

According to sources, CBCID police arrested four persons in connection with the murder of HM functionary Sasi Kumar who was allegedly hacked to death here by a gang during September 22, 2016.

Later on the case was handed over to the NIA in January last, following which sleuths from NIA raided few houses belong to Muslims here on March 18 and May 9, during which officials recovered electronic devices and data storage devices including pen drive CDs, mobile phone sim-cards and hard disk they also investigated many youths in connection with the murder.Meanwhile on Thursday the NIA sleuths raided the house of Mohamed Rafi Gulshan at Sai Baba Colony who went abroad in November 2016.

The sleuths recovered 21 materials including sim-cards, hard disk, DVDs and confidential documents from the house in the raids. The NIA have already investigated his father Shajahan few months ago and summoned him demanding Mohamed Rafi Gulshan return home and appear for an investigation.

Despite sending a summon and talking to him over phone Mohamed Rafi Gulshan allegedly ignored their plea, claiming lack of leave from his workplace there.A higher official from NIA told the DC, efforts are being taken to bring back Mohamed Rafi Gulshan to India for investigation. The recovered materials have been sent to Hyderabad for technical verifications and the raid will continue at few more houses here, added the official.
