Smart Villages nodal centre at KLU: Chandrababu Naidu

It is aimed at promoting use of technology in rural areas.

Guntur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the AP government was promoting innovation centres to turn Amaravati into a research hub. He was speaking at the open innovation hackathon building on Smart Villages at KL University in Guntur district on Thursday.

The three-day Open Innovation Forum-India hackathon sponsored by KLU, AP government, BerkeleyHaas and Garwood Centre was started on August 29 and it concluded on Thursday.

Mr Naidu said that AP leads other in technology and that all the departments are computerised for better services under e-office and e-cabinet. He announced a nodal centre of Smart Villages would be started in KLU.

He said that industrial revolution developed technology which further is changing the lives of the public in smarter ways. He said that he arduously worked to bring IT to AP and recollected that Microsoft chief Bill Gates cooperated in all aspects for IT revolution in AP.

He recalled that he used personal computer (PC) in those days when PC is known as police constable to computerise the records of Telugu Desam.

He mentioned that the party founder N.T. Rama Rao did not use air-conditioner but AC was used to PC and this helped them to strengthen the party cadre from grass-roots level.

At present, the era of Internet Of Things (IOT) is under progress and the AP government has decided to make lives of farmers and farming better with the help of technology, he said.

Mr Naidu, stating about using of technology in government and private sectors in America, said that AP government has now surpassed US about using technology in government and private sectors. He said all the data of the AP government is stored in cloud storage and all the villages, towns and cities were linked through internet under e-governance concept in AP.

He said that the AP government has started every thing online and the results of the technology can be felt in the next two years.

He said that youth will get employment with the promotion of IT sector and farmers would become smart with good income and good health due to technology.

“AP is using technology to caution the public about lightning and it is the only state using the technology extensively in the country.”

Mr Naidu, praising the efforts of KL University towards promotion of technology, said the government will promote technology among rural population through this centre. AP minister for IT N. Lokesh, minister for medical and health K. Srinivas, University of California professor Solomon Darwin were present.
