Centre clears survey for Rs 4,300 crore fuel pipeline to Hyderabad

The Centre has accorded approval to conduct the survey for taking up the pipeline network.

Hyderabad: Decks have been cleared for the Rs 4,300 crore pipeline network from Paradip refinery in Odisha to supply petrol and diesel directly to Hyderabad. The Centre has accorded approval to conduct the survey for taking up the pipeline network.

Official sources said the pipeline laying works will be completed within three years, to meet the increasing fuel demand in TS and other southern states.

“The existing storage facilities in Hyderabad can cater to the demand for only three days in case of any disruption in supplies. The new pipeline would provide a permanent solution to shortage of fuel in the city,” the sources said.
At present, there are 460 petrol/diesel pumps in GHMC limits.

Besides, the petroleum ministry has decided to set up two new LPG bottling plants in northern TS, mostly likely in Karimnagar district, and on doubling the capacity of IOC’s two bottling plants with over Rs 300 crore and building a state-of-the art product terminal of IOC on the outskirts of Hyderabad with over Rs 500 crore to support the East-South trunk pipeline from Paradeep refinery to shift petrol and diesel.
