Pakistan PM Sharif reverts to Modi's wishes, says heart-felt thanks!

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani were among several world leaders who wished Sharif ahead of the surgery.

London: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday “successfully” underwent open-heart surgery at Princess Grace Hospital in London. His condition was described as “stable” by his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif, after the Premier’s second cardiac procedure in five years.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani were among several world leaders who wished Sharif ahead of the surgery. However, in a sign of the continuing bonhomie and good rapport that they share with each other, the Pakistan premier only spoke to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Prime Minister Modi and expressed gratitude for Mr Modi’s best wishes for his upcoming operation and speedy recovery,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said.

“PM Narendra Modi receives phone call from PM Nawaz Sharif just before the Pakistan PM is wheeled in for surgery,” MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted late on Monday night.
