Thief held, half kilo gold seized in Hyderabad

Cops seized the firearm and weapons from the suspects after arresting the two, and a manhunt was launched for the absconding man.

Hyderabad: A sub-inspector suffered minor injuries in a clash with a gang of robbers at Pargi in Ranga Reddy district early on Saturday.

Though the gang tried to flee after the attack a police team chased and captured two members of the gang. One person escaped. The thieves had a firearm, knives and blunt weapons with them.

Police said that SI Obul Reddy, who is on probation, and some constables were checking a vehicle parked near a bank past midnight. The suspects, who were inside the car, attacked the cops.

Cops seized the firearm and weapons from the suspects after arresting the two, and a manhunt was launched for the absconding man.

The RR police thinks the gang must have been planning to break into the private bank where they had parked their vehicle.

“The SI and his team were on patrol when they saw a parked car in suspicious circumstances. They stopped and tried to check the car. Then the three suspects attacked them in an attempt to escape. One of them had a country firearm while others had knives,” said a senior police official from Ranga Reddy police.
