Hyderabad: Brothers-in-law brutally stab man to death

Victim's family alleges caste prejudice, cops deny charge.

Hyderabad: A 29-year-old man was brutally murdered by his wife’s brothers at Vanasthalipuram on Thursday. Lalith Aditya was stabbed on the head, back and genitals. The four persons who attacked him hit him on the head with flower pots. Aditya had married one Sushmitha Reddy eight months ago.

Lalith’s mother Shailaja alleged that Lalith faced a threat right from the time of marriage and that his in-laws killed him due to caste prejudices. Lalith was arrested in August for creating nuisance at Sushmitha’s house in Adibhatla and for attacking her family.

Singidi Lalith Aditya was working for the Reliance group in Gujarat. He fell in love with Sushmitha and married her in December 2015. As they belonged to different castes, Sushmitha's family did not accept Lalith. After marriage they went to Gujarat. A month ago, they came back to Hyderabad. They used to quarrel frequently regarding petty things.

On Wednesday Sush-mitha went to her parents house after a fight. Since he was alone his friend Rahul came to give him company. At around 3.30 am, Sushmitha’s brothers Yashwanth Reddy, Prashanth Reddy and two others came and attacked Lalith.

“They hit him with an iron rod and stabbed him on the head, chest, back and genitals. They also hit him on the head with flower pots killing him on the spot. They did not harm his friend Rahul,” ACP B. Bhaskar said.

Lalith’s mother Sailaja alleged that after marriage Sushmith’s father Venkat Reddy used to tell that he will kill Lalith. Nobody in her family liked him except her grandmother. “Her grandmother had said that Lalith faced a threat from her son. Just because my son belonged to another caste they killed him,” she said.

However, police denied the honour angle. Lalith Aditya is an accused in an attempt to murder case and in two cases for inflicting injuries using weapons. He was recently arrested by the Adibhatla police and remanded but he came out on bail.
