Kochi: Man held for fake Facebook page

Cops identified as many as 12 fake profiles of Kavya Madhavan on Facebook. Images and lewd remarks were shared on page.

Kochi: Kochi City Police on Friday arrested a person for running a fake Facebook page of actor Kavya Madhavan. The arrested has been identified as Aravind Babu of Panthalam. According to Kochi City Police Commissioner M.P. Dinesh, the accused was arrested after the Cyber Cell conducted a probe into the actor’s complaint.

Kavya filed a complaint before the Kochi City Police Commissioner. Pursuant to the complaint, the Commissioner handed over the case to Deputy Commissioner Arul Krishna. The probe team led by Arul Krishna nabbed the accused. According to police, Aravind has been using the fake profile for the past four years.

The probe team identified as many as 12 fake profiles of the actor on Facebook. According to police, the accused shared images and lewd remarks through Facebook. Police in a press release stated that they were monitoring several other fake profiles run by anonymous persons. Kavya has been fighting a lone battle against cybercrimes for the past few years. Kavya had earlier filed a complaint for spreading rumours about her personal life through Facebook.
