Hyderabad: Police arrests advocate for harassing junior judge

The accused, P. Mahesh, was working as a legal advisor with a construction firm North Star Homes, a real estate firm based in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cyber Crime police on Tuesday arrested an advocate for allegedly harassing a junior civil judge by posting hers and her children’s private pictures on social media.

The accused, P. Mahesh, was working as a legal advisor with a construction firm North Star Homes, a real estate firm based in Hyderabad. According to the police, the accused and the judge had worked as junior advocates with a senior advocate before 2010.

“During their stint as junior advocates, both of them became family friends. They both prepared together for the entrance of the recruitment of junior civil judge. While the victim cleared the entrance and was selected as junior civil judge, the accused could not clear the test,” the police said.

When the judge prevented him developing intimacy with her children, the police said he got angry and she stopped talking to him. “However, he continued to pester her to talk to him over phone. When she refused, he decided to take revenge on her and he created a fake Face-book profile on her name, in an attempt to defame her character.”

The 32-year-old accused had allegedly downloaded the judge’s photographs from her Face-book account and posted in the fake account and sent the same to her friends and colleagues.

“He also threatened the victim saying that he had her private pictures and when he was with her. He also threatened her saying that he took the pictures of her children and he will upload the same on social media.” Cybercrime ACP S. Jayaram said.

The accused, who is a resident of Ramanthapur, had allegedly extorted money from the judge for purchasing a car. Based on a complaint from the junior civil judge, police arrested the accused and sent him to remand.

The police has also recovered his mobile and laptop, which he used for creating fake Facebook account and sent them for forensic analysis.
