Chennai: Months after a history-sheeter was arrested while cutting his birthday cake at a resort on ECR, another accused, Satish, 21, was arrested by MGR Road police on Friday while celebrating his birthday.
Satish, hailing from MGR Nagar, and his five friends gathered on John Kennedy street Thursday night to celebrate his 21st birthday. The party gathered on the street and to assert his strength, Satish was given a machete to cut the cake. No sooner had he cut than the cake police gatecrashed his party and nabbed him and his friends as he had videotaped the cake-cutting and circulated it on WhatsApp.
The police traced and arrested him after the video went viral, police sources say. “He was easy to find because the video clearly shows him cutting the cake with the machete and feeding his friends. This incident happened on July 25” the inspector at the MGR Nagar police station said.
In February this year, Binu, a history-sheeter who had over 28 cases against him was nabbed along with over 60 of his friends at a resort on ECR Road as they were celebrating his birthday. Binu, who had been hiding for over two years was arrested as his accomplices decided to welcome him back with a party.
