Telangana: Minor held for insulting national flag

Police said the boy a resident of Veerlapally village was studying Class VIII in a private school.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police apprehended a 14-year-old boy from Nandigama, for posting a picture on his Facebook profile, insulting the national flag. Police said the boy a resident of Veerlapally village was studying Class VIII in a private school.

A few days ago, one of the villagers while browsing Facebook, noticed the boy’s profile and found an image, in which he was seen tying shoelace by placing his foot on the National Flag.

Based on a complaint from the villager, police registered a case under Section 153 (b) of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act and after inquiry, apprehended the boy. He was produced before the juvenile justice board and sent to a juvenile home.

Police also blocked his facebook account and also recovered from him the mobile he used for uploading the controversial picture. The seized material are sent to Forensic Science Laboratory.
