Nothing suspicious about Pakistanis arrested from Bengaluru, say sources

Officials from Intelligence Bureau, R&AW interrogate all four accused.

Bengaluru: The three Pakistani nationals and a Kerala-based man, who were arrested by the CCB police for staying illegally in the city, are being thoroughly interrogated by multiple agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau and Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW).

Mohammed Shihab, 26, from Kerala, his Pakistani wife Sameera alias Nazma, 25, her cousin Khasif Shamshuddin, 31, and his wife Kiran Ghulam Ali, 25, were arrested from their rented house near Telephone Exchange office in Kumaraswamy Layout on Wednesday night.

As the city police had informed about the development to central agencies, officials from the IB and R&AW got in touch with the city police and have gathered all details about the case. Besides, the officials subjected the four accused persons to marathon grilling sessions both on Wednesday and Thursday.

"The focus of our investigation is to know the background of all the four. We have been questioning them individually and all the four have stuck to the same version. In the investigation conducted so far, we do not have anything to worry about and there is no evidence to claim that they were involved in any anti-national activity. All they tell us is that they came to India only to escape from their family members, who were against their marriages. However, we will continue questioning them till we are sure about their motives,” an official from the IB said. Meanwhile, the officials of the Internal Security Division and state intelligence wing are also gathering details about the case, sources said.
