Hyderabad: Student kills self over poor performance in Eamcet

Police said that K. Harshitha hanged herself at home while her family was away.

Hyderabad: Depressed over her poor performance in the Intermediate exams and in fear of expecting a poor showing at the Eamcet, an 18-year-old girl committed suicide on Wednesday evening.

Harshitha, a resident of Pragatinagar, had completed Intermediate recently. But she remain troubled as she had scored less than what she had expected. Her parents tried to divert her mind from studies but she remained sad.

On Wednesday morning she became restless as Eamcet results were going to be declared on Thursday. In the evening she was alone at home. “When the parents returned they her daughter hanging from the ceiling fan,” KPHB inspector Kushalkar said.

Based on a complaint from her father K. Srinivas Rao, a suspicious death case has been registered and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. The cops are investigating.
