Chennai: A two-and half-year-old child was allegedly kidnapped from outside his home in Tondiarpet in broad daylight on Monday. The kidnapped boy was the eldest son of the couple Mohammed Iliyas and Barkath Nisha living on 2nd street, Nethaji Nagar in Tondiarpet.
Around 12.30 pm, the boy Mohammed Sathu was standing outside his house when he was kidnapped, according to family members.
All the family members were inside the house when the incident happened. “A person on a bicycle had lured our child and took him away,” Sikander, a relative said.
Parents and relatives searched for the missing child in the neighbourhood and finally went through the CCTV footage in a nearby street to find the child being taken in a bicycle by an unidentified person. The boy is seen holding the handlebar and 'riding' the bicycle while the unidentified person was sitting in the carrier and pedalling.
The family suspect the person to have lured the child by offering a ri de in the bicycle and took him away.
The child's father sells clothes outside the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital along with his wife. The couple gave birth to their second child only a month ago. The RK Nagar police are investigating.
