Hyderabad: A 35-year-old housewife committed suicide by drinking an unknown poison due to harassment by her husband at Devarakonda in Nalgonda district on Saturday. The deceased, identified as Varikothala Padma, was married to one Srinivas, 50, a painter.
“The wife was experiencing constant domestic violence and harassment from her husband since a long time. Unable to bear the harassment she decided to end her life and consumed an unknown poison on Saturday,” said inspector Ramakrishna of Devarakonda.
The body of Padma was sent to the mortuary for post-mortem examination to identify the poison. The husband was booked by the police under Section 298A and 306 of IPC and an investigation is in progress.
