Hyderabad: Police arrested four people, including an engineering student, on Saturday for torching four vehicles in Attapur. The suspects are P. Jithin Sai Kumar, 19, an engineering student, V. Veeresh, 22, an auto driver, M. Shiva Kumar, 20, a car driver, and M. Ramesh, 20, a auto driver.

Rajendranagar inspector V. Umender said that Veeresh and Ramesh were close friends and colleagues. A few months ago, Vereesh called his sister from Ramesh’s mobile. After the call, Ramesh saved the number on his phone and started harassing the girl.

Veeresh came to know about this and fought with Ramesh for harassing his sister, but Ramesh continued to harass her on the phone and Veeresh decided to hit back.

His friends Shiva and Jathin suggested that Veeresh should damage Ramesh’s autorickshaw. They used half litre petrol which they had purchased from a petrol pump in Attapur and torched it in December 2016. “When they torched the vehicle one Dhannu saw it and thinking that he would tell Ramesh, they torched one more autorickshaw mistaking it to be Dhannu’s,” the inspector said.

After this they burnt the car of another person after a fight with him. On March 23, Ramesh torched Jatin’s bike after knowing that Jatin and his friends had torched his vehicle. Police arrested the four suspects and remanded them.
